How to Migrate an Existing WordPress Website to CeylonServers

June 07, 2026 Web Hosting and Control Panels (cPanel)

Moving your website to a new hosting provider can seem overwhelming, but at CeylonServers, we make the transition seamless. By following this guide, you can migrate your entire WordPress website—including all images, plugins, databases, and themes—with zero downtime for your visitors.

We will use the industry-standard, free All-in-One WP Migration plugin, which is the safest and easiest method for websites of all sizes.

Phase 1: Export Your Site From Your Old Hosting Provider

First, you need to create a complete package backup of your live website from your current host.

  • Log in to your existing WordPress dashboard on your old server.
  • Go to Plugins âž” Add New, search for "All-in-One WP Migration", click Install Now, and then Activate.

  • In your left sidebar menu, click on the newly appeared All-in-One WP Migration menu and select "Export".
  • Click the "Export To" dropdown button and choose "File".
  • The plugin will begin bundling your database, media files, plugins, and themes. Once it finishes, a blinking green button will appear. Click "Download yourdomain.com" to save the secure .wpress migration file to your local computer.

Phase 2: Prepare Your CeylonServers cPanel Dashboard

Now, let's set up a clean, fresh WordPress workspace on your new CeylonServers account.

  • Log in to your CeylonServers cPanel account dashboard.
  • In the left navigation sidebar menu, click on WordPress Manager by Softaculous.

  • Click the blue "Install" button to perform a fresh, temporary 1-click installation on your domain.
  • Note: Do not worry about setting up site names or custom passwords here, as this clean install will be completely overwritten by your original website data in the next step.

Phase 3: Import Your Website to CeylonServers

Next, we will pull your original website data into the fresh CeylonServers installation.

Log in to the new WordPress dashboard on CeylonServers (You can do this instantly by clicking the blue "Login" button next to your domain inside cPanel's WordPress Manager by Softaculous).

  • Go to Plugins âž” Add New, install and activate the exact same All-in-One WP Migration plugin on this new setup.
  • In the left menu, hover over All-in-One WP Migration and click "Import".
  • Click "Import From" âž” "File", and select the .wpress backup file you downloaded during Phase 1.
  • Do not close the browser window while the progress bar uploads.
  • Once the upload hits 100%, a security warning popup will appear stating that this will overwrite your database and media files. Click "Proceed".
  • Once completed successfully, click "Finish".

Phase 4: Crucial Post-Migration Steps

To ensure your links function correctly and to point your global domain traffic to our high-speed servers, complete these final actions:

1. Save Permalinks: Log back into your WordPress dashboard.

Important: Your login credentials are now changed! Use the original administrator username and password from your old host to log in.

Go to Settings âž” Permalinks on the sidebar, scroll to the bottom, and click "Save Changes" (Do this twice without making any modifications. This regenerates your server .htaccess steering code to prevent 404 broken link errors).

2. Point Your Nameservers: Log in to the domain registrar where you purchased your domain name (e.g., Namecheap, GoDaddy, or LK Domain Registry). Update your domain's Nameservers (NS) to point directly to the CeylonServers nameservers provided in your hosting welcome email.

Once the DNS propagates globally (which usually takes anywhere from a few minutes up to a couple of hours), your domain will seamlessly start loading your website straight from our high-speed secure servers!
